Trending Textures: Natural Woven Rattan and Cane Home Furnishings & Decor

Natural woven textures like rattan and cane have been gaining popularity over the last couple of years and I predict this look will continue to be hot through 2020 and for years to come. You have probably seen lots of cane and rattan options in your favorite home decor retailers including chairs, beds, settees, stools, benches. It’s all over the house.

Woven furniture and accessories can be used with ANY style. FOR REAL. Any style. it can be used in the most traditional spaces, the most minimal modern spaces, coastal, retro, and boho spaces. Yes – woven pieces will always work.

Here are a few examples to show you how you can use it in your home too. It doesn’t take much to make a big impact - adding in just a bit of texture brings plenty of dimension and warmth to every space.

A trend I have been seeing a lot is woven light fixtures. This woven wicker ceiling light by Suaka Living with its earthy tones and warm texture adds a rustic yet stylish focal point to this chic dining room.

Another popular use for cane and rattan is on chairs. I really love the modern take on it I’ve been seeing recently. The woven dining chairs below from CB2 add so much depth to what could otherwise be a pretty stark and contemporary space. These dining chairs really warm up this dining room!

The woven textured look can be seen in the bedroom too! The bedroom below highlights a traditional style bed by Serena and Lily freshened up with a tropical twist creating a clean fresh look.

This cane-fronted buffet by Green with Envy really makes a statement when it is paired with more modern furniture and decor (which I love!), and it softens the look a little bit overall.

*If you are curious of the difference between rattan, wicker, bamboo, cane, Pier One has a great breakdown of woven furniture HERE. In short, wicker is an umbrella term for anything woven (cane, bamboo, seagrass, rattan, etc).
